At HomeBlend, every month we donate 10% of our ad revenue to a microfinance project in Africa. What this means is that our money, along with others, is invested to help expand a small business in africa. Once they've managed to expand, they pay the money back with no interest. This then gets reinvested into another business in Africa, along with the 10% we chuck in each month! We think this is better than just donating to charity, as it is helping people build a sustainable livelihood, not just accept aid!

At the moment we are investing in the Gulu C 2001(i) Group. "This group has been together for one year and six months. Mary is 45 years old and married with five children. She runs a butcher shop. With the extra business profits, Mary intends to pay school fees for the children. Gertrude and Mary have piggery businesses. Specioza has grocery store!"
